Starting in April, BermudAir will introduce new connections between Charleston International Airport (CHS), Hartford’s Bradley International Airport (BDL), and Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) with Bermuda’s L.F. Wade International Airport (BDA). These will be the only nonstop services between these U.S. airports and Bermuda.
Ticket prices for the new routes begin at $139 one-way from Charleston and Raleigh, and $169 one-way from Hartford.
“We are excited to provide more travel options for Bermuda residents and to welcome new visitors from these dynamic North American cities,” stated BermudAir founder and CEO Adam Scott. He added that the new routes are expected to enhance tourism to Bermuda.
BermudAir commenced operations in August 2023 with flights to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and Westchester County Airport (HPN) near New York City. Initially envisioned as an all-business-class airline featuring exclusive "pods" on its two Embraer E175s, supplier delays prompted the airline to launch with a standard two-class configuration, including a traditional first-class cabin and economy seats, without the pods. The airline has since adopted the dual-class model and plans to maintain it even after launching the much-anticipated first-class pods.
“In October, we expressed our desire to still include pods at the front of our aircraft,” Scott mentioned. “There remains a strong market here... Instead of catering exclusively to a select few, we are now an airline for the entire island.”
BermudAir will operate two weekly flights to Hartford on Thursdays and Sundays starting April 3, and to Raleigh on Mondays and Fridays beginning April 11. Flights to Charleston are set to begin on Saturdays from April 19.
With these new additions, BermudAir will expand its total number of destinations in the U.S. and Canada to ten.
The airline plans to add two more Embraer E-Jets to its fleet by next spring to support its current operations and enable further expansion. In October, Scott indicated that these additional aircraft could be either more E175s or larger E190s or E195s capable of seating over 100 passengers.
A BermudAir spokesperson was not immediately available to comment on the fleet expansion.
Additionally, BermudAir is developing a loyalty program and intends to establish partnerships with other airlines.
