Spirit Airlines Offers 40% Discount on Points
Spirit Airlines is offering a 40% discount on Spirit points purchases until December 13, 2024, allowing customers to buy up to 60,000 points at reduced rates.

If you're looking to boost your Spirit Airlines Free Spirit points, now is the perfect time. Spirit Airlines is currently offering a 40% discount on purchased points until December 13, 2024. Although Free Spirit points are somewhat limited in availability, there are specific situations where topping up your account at this discounted rate could be beneficial.

From now until December 13, 2024, you can take advantage of a 40% discount when buying Free Spirit points. Unlike many promotions, this offer doesn't increase with the number of points you purchase. As long as you buy at least 1,000 points, you can receive the 40% discount, up to a maximum of 60,000 points. For example, purchasing 60,000 points will cost you $900, effectively making each point cost just 1.5 cents.

Purchases are handled through points.com, which means you won’t earn any bonus points on "travel" or airfare transactions. Additionally, it may take up to 72 hours for the points to appear in your Free Spirit account.

To maximize your purchase, use your best credit card for everyday spending. Alternatively, you can direct this spending towards earning a valuable new sign-up bonus on a credit card.

Spirit’s Free Spirit program is entirely revenue-based, meaning the value of your points depends on the specific flight you're redeeming them for, starting at a minimum of 2,500 points. Non-elite members will incur a $50 fee if booking a trip within 28 days of departure, though bookings made well in advance do not have this fee.

If you decide to purchase the maximum of 60,000 Free Spirit points with this promotion, you’ll spend $900 for 60,000 points. This allows for 24 flights at the lowest rate of 2,500 points each. However, it's important to note that a flight costing 2,500 points is likely very affordable in cash as well.

At Upgraded Points, we value Free Spirit points at 1.1 cents each, so we generally do not recommend purchasing points speculatively at the promotion’s 1.5 cents-per-point rate.

Since Spirit does not have any airline partners, the ways to use these points are quite limited. Additionally, the airline charges a fee for last-minute bookings, a fee that many major carriers have eliminated.

For most travelers, buying Free Spirit points may not be worthwhile. However, if you are close to earning enough points for an award or have a specific planned use for these points, purchasing them during this discount sale could be advantageous.
