Starting in April, BermudAir will introduce nonstop flights connecting Charleston International Airport (CHS), Hartford’s Bradley International Airport (BDL), and Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) with Bermuda’s L.F. Wade International Airport (BDA). This expansion makes BermudAir the sole provider of direct flights between these U.S. cities and Bermuda.
Ticket prices for these new routes begin at $139 one-way from Charleston and Raleigh, and $169 one-way from Hartford.
Adam Scott, the founder and CEO of BermudAir, expressed excitement about the expansion, stating, “We're thrilled to provide more travel options for Bermuda residents and to welcome new visitors from these vibrant North American cities.” He emphasized that these new routes will enhance tourism to Bermuda by increasing visitor numbers.
BermudAir launched in August 2023, initially offering flights to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and Westchester County Airport (HPN) near New York City. Originally envisioned as an all-business-class airline with exclusive “pods” on its two Embraer E175 aircraft, the airline faced supplier delays that led to its debut with a traditional two-class setup, featuring a first-class cabin and economy seats instead of pods. The airline has since adopted a dual-class business model and intends to maintain it alongside the eventual introduction of the delayed first-class pods.
Looking ahead, Scott mentioned in October, “We aim to place the pods towards the front of the aircraft. There remains a strong market demand... [However], instead of catering exclusively to a select few, we are becoming an airline for the entire island.”
BermudAir's new services will include two weekly flights to Hartford every Thursday and Sunday starting April 3, flights to Raleigh every Monday and Friday beginning April 11, and flights to Charleston every Saturday from April 19. These additions will bring BermudAir’s total number of destinations in the U.S. and Canada to ten.
To support its growing operations and planned expansion by next spring, the airline intends to add two more Embraer E-Jets to its fleet. In October, Scott indicated that these new aircraft could be either additional E175s or larger E190s or E195s capable of seating over 100 passengers. A BermudAir spokesperson has not yet commented on the fleet expansion status.
Additionally, BermudAir is developing a loyalty program and plans to establish partnerships with other airlines to enhance its service offerings.
